After being appointed as a judge for Prima Baby Awards 2015, I was pleased to see that the Mamas and Papas Armadillo Flip had been shortlisted in the best innovation category.
A product that had had a lot of hype surrounding it, prior to its release, it had been marketed as 'the revolutionary big little stroller' and described as 'The only stroller you'll ever need'. A lot to live up to!
I had a brief 'play' with it whilst at Prima Baby HQ and was impressed by the ease of handling, how lightweight it was and that it was both parent and world facing. So I was overjoyed when it arrived on my doorstep!
I was a little giddy when the box arrived and immediately got it out and assembly was a breeze! I tried my toddler for size first and it is huge! Firstly trying parent facing, then world facing. It's a breeze to push and so comfortable for the baby/child inside. The break is very efficient and easy to operate.
I fell in love with the teal colour and the huge hood to protect against all the elements. It is incredible; providing shade and coverage for all your baby's body, not just shielding their head.
After adjusting the straps, I tried my baby it in. At around 6 months, I was a little reluctant, but he was so comfortable and could be fully reclined. A testament to its popularity in our house, Isaac immediately fell asleep!
Folding the Armadillo Flip is straightforward and it's very compact when folded.
As much as I've fallen in love with the Armadillo Flip, I've found a few negatives; the harness is a little fiddly whilst trying to strap in a wriggly baby, it can be a bit of a challenge.
Priced at £399, the only accessory included is a rain cover. Changing bags and footmuffs are sold separately. Some may argue that it becomes a little expensive once you've added on accessory costs.
I may also dispute the one handed fold. I struggle when holding a baby in one hand whilst folding, but with practice, I'm sure I could master it eventually!
Overall, it's still love from us and we receive lots of compliments on our new wheels! A huge thanks to Mamas and Papas and Prima Baby Magazine!
This looks very much like the Baby Jogger City Mini which is the buggy I loved when my children were younger - I agree the colour is gorgeous! I don't think £399 is a bad price, I was looking at prams for my brother the other day and was shocked at how much they cost these days!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's been likened to that (with bells on with the huge hood!) The cost of prams/pushchairs can range from the sublime to the ridiculous these days! Hope they find a one that's suitable for them. Try looking on the Made For Mums website. It gives a range of reviews for choosing baby and parenting products! Invaluable!
